Israel work permits for foreign experts: the employer’s preparation

Organize the employer-led permit workstream without confusing a planned assignment with an approved application.

Start with the official service

The Population and Immigration Authority publishes the service for permits to employ foreign experts. Its current instructions should guide the application, alongside advice appropriate to the actual role and employer. Do not assume that calling someone an expert establishes eligibility, or that an approval issued for another employee covers the new assignment.

Align the role and supporting records

Prepare a consistent description of the work, the employee’s qualifications and the proposed assignment. Review the official checklist for supporting records such as the CV and qualification documents, and verify any format requirements. Inconsistencies between the proposed role and the supporting material are best identified before submission.

Track the decision separately

Record submission, information requests and the authority’s decision as separate milestones. Keep housing and travel commitments flexible while required approvals remain outstanding. FullSettleIL can assist with practical coordination and paperwork organization, but cannot replace the authority’s assessment or guarantee approval or a processing deadline.

Practical checklist

  • Review the current official instructions
  • Match the role to supporting qualifications
  • Track requests and approval separately

Sources and verification

General information, not legal, immigration, tax or insurance advice. Verify current requirements with the responsible authority. Processes vary by case and municipality; Tel Aviv–Yafo sources are not nationwide rules.
