Driving in Israel after relocation: a company checklist

Coordinate driver eligibility, the actual vehicle and the insurance arrangements as three separate checks.

Check the driver first

Identify the employee’s current status and the license class held. Obtain case-specific confirmation of whether the employee may drive under the intended circumstances and whether conversion is needed. Use current official transport guidance, not a blanket rule copied from an old expat forum. Record who verified the position and when.

Then check the vehicle and coverage

Confirm that the proposed vehicle matches the permitted license class and the company’s assignment policy. Ask the insurer or authorized fleet contact about driver conditions and the intended use. Do not treat a valid license as automatic proof of insurance coverage, or a rental agreement as a substitute for checking driving permission.

Provide a practical handover

Show the employee the vehicle’s condition record, fuel arrangement, parking information and company contact for problems. Clarify the escalation path for breakdowns and incidents. FullSettleIL’s worker contact support can help coordinate practical issues, but should not be represented as an emergency service, insurer or substitute for the employer’s safety procedures.

Practical checklist

  • Verify driver eligibility
  • Match license class to vehicle
  • Check insurance conditions separately
  • Give the employee an incident contact

Sources and verification

General information, not legal, immigration, tax or insurance advice. Verify current requirements with the responsible authority. Processes vary by case and municipality; Tel Aviv–Yafo sources are not nationwide rules.
