Apartment move-in checklist for employees in Israel

A documented handover makes it easier to resolve missing furniture, meter questions and maintenance problems after arrival.

Document the property before unpacking

Walk through the apartment with the person handing over the keys. Record existing damage, photograph the inventory with permission and test essential items such as locks, lighting and the supplied appliances. Share the record with the landlord and retain a dated copy. This creates a reference point without deciding legal responsibility for any later dispute.

Check whether services really work

Confirm that water and electricity are available, ask whose name each account is in and record accessible meter readings at handover. Test internet rather than relying on a promised installation date. The Tel Aviv municipal housing guide advises newcomers to clarify utility and building-fee arrangements; confirm the exact setup for this address.

Leave a useful contact sheet

Give the employee the address in a format local providers can use, the landlord’s maintenance contact and the company’s settlement contact. Agree who handles urgent faults and who can approve costs. A clear first-night handover is more helpful than a long list of disconnected phone numbers with no explanation of responsibility.

Practical checklist

  • Record damage and inventory
  • Test water, electricity and internet
  • Confirm keys and maintenance contacts

Sources and verification

General information, not legal, immigration, tax or insurance advice. Verify current requirements with the responsible authority. Processes vary by case and municipality; Tel Aviv–Yafo sources are not nationwide rules.
